Under Pressure, But Still Here

Under Pressure, But Still Here

What I’m Holding (Without Explaining It Away)

Sometimes the list is quiet and sharp.
Sometimes it’s loud and blurry.

☐ Projects overdue

☐ People waiting

☐ Expectations I never agreed to

☐ Emails I haven’t opened because they might open me

☐ A body saying “pause” in a system saying “produce”

The list isn’t indulgent. It’s data.

The Inner Narration Under Pressure

Without judgment, complete the sentence:

  • “When I feel overloaded, I tend to think…”
    → “I’m falling behind.”
    → “I can’t afford to disappoint anyone.”
    → “I should’ve planned better.”
→ “Other people are handling it, why can’t I?”

Now reframe gently:

  • “What I wish I believed instead…”
→ “I’m allowed to pace myself.”
    → “Urgency isn’t always clarity.”
→ “I can care and still say no.”

The Nervous System Check-In

☐ Breathing feels shallow or clipped

☐ Muscles coiled or rigid

☐ Difficulty focusing, switching tabs constantly

☐ Irritable without knowing why

☐ Crying randomly (or wanting to but can’t)

☐ Resisting help, even while craving it

☐ Suddenly cleaning the entire kitchen because the inbox feels like a monster

Even this is part of the process. Not a problem to solve, just information.

What Can Be Moved (Even a Little)

Pick one:

☐ A meeting that can be rescheduled

☐ A task that doesn’t need perfection

☐ An email that can wait 24 hours

☐ A standard I’m holding myself to that no one else expects

☐ A tiny ritual that might bring me back to centre

Small shifts matter. Especially under pressure.

Alternate Status Updates (Choose or Create)

  • “Delaying gently to protect clarity.”
  • “Still here, just recalibrating my pace.”
  • “Currently: prioritising steadiness over speed.”
  • “Answer pending, tending first.”
  • “More time needed, more care in progress.”

Navigating Through, Not Around

Pressure can distort perception. Let’s return to intention:

  • I am not failing, I am attending.
  • I am not behind, I am discerning.
  • I don’t need to match urgency with over-functioning.
  • I am human in motion, not a robot in a sprint.
  • My presence is more valuable than my panic.

And that is more than enough.

Thoughts

You don’t have to push harder.
You don’t have to prove steadiness.
You don’t have to be calm to move forward with care.

You are allowed to be overwhelmed.
You are allowed to step back.
You are allowed to ask for time, space, and help.

You’re still good. Even here.
